Most of our guests have never sat in a kayak. By the end of the first channel they are steering around roots and pointing out kingfishers. Here is how that happens.
The three strokes
- Forward stroke: blade in by your toes, out by your hip.
- Sweep: a wide arc on one side to turn the other way.
- Stop: blade in the water behind you, held still.
That is genuinely it. Your guide will show you each one on the beach before you launch, and the mangrove channels are so calm that there is nothing to rush.
